Working with several partners, Sami Agtech designed SAMI 4.0, a smart, multifunctional agricultural system designed to automate fruit and vegetable harvesting using robotics, an advanced vision system and artificial intelligence (AI).
CRVI’s experts developed modules for this project to locate, describe and record the position of broccoli. This makes it possible to inventory the broccoli that is not ready for harvest or generate itineraries for the robots in real time, based on the movements of the tractor and the system in the time between detection and harvesting, so they can take care of cutting and harvesting.
In the long run, automated harvests will save on labour costs, increase productivity, result in higher-quality produce and optimize harvesting based on field inventory and weather conditions.
